This movie displays the actual number of frames per second (fps) achieved by the movie on the Stage over the past frame, and averaged over increasingly long periods. The figures give the average frame rate over the past second, and the minimum and maximum frame rates achieved over that time.

It is more accurate and provides more information than the fps meter in the Control Panel, and can also be used with a projector. For the most accurate results while authoring, close all authoring windows apart from the Stage, and in particular the Score and Cast windows.

Use it to analyse where your movie's performance bottlenecks occur.

Place the uncompressed movie in the Director Xtras folder. You can then choose the menu item Xtras | fpsmeter to open the movie as a MIAW above the movie on the Stage. When you run the movie on the stage, the FPS window will update to reflect its target frame rate and actual performance.

This movie was developed in collaboration with Jakob Hede Madsen.
